Learn And Master Painting with Award Winning Instructor Gayle Levee

The Goal Of The Course:

According to the publisher of the Learn And Master Painting video lessons, it is designed to be the most thorough, logical and easy to understand way to learn oil, acrylic and water mixable oil painting no matter your present level of skills or talent. During this course, the student will create several complete paintings from start to finish.

Who Will Benefit Most From This Painting Course - Beginners or Advanced Students?

This dvd lesson set is geared for rank beginners with no experience or formal training through accomplished painters that wish to round out their knowledge base and benefit from the advanced lessons.

Also, children starting at an age of 8 to 10 years old, with a little set-up help from an adult, should be able to learn from the dvd set on their own.

About The Instructor Gayle Levee (Pronounced Le Vay)

Gayle was born into a family of artists and knew from the young age of five years old that she wanted to draw. This award winning artist was formally educated at the University of Denver as well as with the renowned Master Painter, Robert Douglas Hunter. She has instructed at the Monteserrat College of Art and the Art Institute of Boston.

The Negatives

Under the category of splitting hairs, there are a few minor problems. Although most of the dvds do an excellent job of showing details, some shots of mixing paints on the pallet, for example, could have been just a bit clearer if an overhead camera had been used.

Also, some of the terms on the first dvd were not always immediately defined. Based on the initial explanation of warm and cool light, for example, a beginner might assume that a warm light is actually hot to the touch instead of understanding that it is composed of colors that look warm.

None of these problems are serious. As the lessons progress, the meaning of most terms become clear through the painting demonstrations.

The Positives

This program is an all video format from start to finish. No little snippits of video or audio. You get the full emersion experience that can only come from watching and hearing each lesson in its entirety from multiple camera angles.

The Instructor, Gayle Levee is not only an accomplished, full time, painter but is also an active and passionate instructor.

The author has a soft spoken, relaxed, confident and well paced style of teaching.

This is one of the few complete programs that run the entire gamut of lessons for the rank beginner all the way through advanced concepts in color theory and developing your own style.

Many small tips are offered that can make a big difference in a student’s success. Ms. Levee even gives away her secret for cleaning paint off your hands without using harsh solvents, (she uses common baby oil).

The Learn And Master Painting dvds are much more convenient than local lessons because you learn in your own home any time of day or night.

Support

Legacy Learning systems has provided a free online student message board for asking questions of the author, uploading photos of your own artwork for critique and communicating with fellow students from around the world.

The Cost Analysis

The Price is $249 USD, (often on sale for as much as $50 to $100 less), and includes all of the items mentioned above.

Learn And Master Painting contains the equivalent of one year’s worth of lessons if you were to space them out as if you were taking lessons from a local painting instructor. A local instructor typically will charge anywhere from $20 to $50 (or more) per weekly lesson. Your minimum cost, ( not including materials ), at only $20 per lesson for 12 months would be at least $1040.

The choice comes down to:a local instructor at $1040 or the Learn and Master Painting DVD course at $249.

The Price Options

An optional painting supplies starter kit is available by itself for $299 or in a discounted package deal that includes the lesson dvds for $449 (or less when on sale).

Payment plans are available starting as low as $49 per month.

Guarantee:

If you are not satisfied for any reason, simply return it within sixty (60) days for a full refund of the purchase price.

The Bottom Line

For a painting course to be thorough it must contain at least these four elements:

1. It must teach that painting is much more that just learning brush tricks and hand techniques. It is also a way of learning to see the world as an artist.

2. Instead of learning how to paint just one specific picture and style it is extremely important to learn the fundamentals light, color and perspective so that any and all subjects and styles will be available to you.

3. Since learning to paint is so intensely visual, it is often best learned by the use of video that is well produced in terms of clear and understandable details.

4. The instructor must be an excellent artist as well as a gifted teacher.

Learn and Master Painting is one of the very few video courses that has truly done an excellent and consistent job of all of the above. As a result it is by far one of the most thorough yet easy to understand painting programs available today. So for these reasons I can unhesitatingly recommend Learn and Master Painting.
